The Ringwald Theatre announces auditions for their holiday production of Mamma Dearest! Here We Joan Again by Blake Fountain.

The holidays are supposed to be about peace on Earth... unless Joan Crawford has anything to say about it. Determined to finally uncover the truth about her birth mother, Christina Crawford follows a trail of explosive diary entries that point to not one, but three legendary divas: Bette Davis, Judy Garland, and Eartha Kitt. Naturally, the only sensible solution is to invite them all over for Christmas. What follows is a spectacular avalanche of old Hollywood egos, razor-sharp one-liners, over-the-top musical numbers, shaken martinis, and enough festive dysfunction to make your own family gathering seem downright wholesome. Packed with camp, chaos, and yuletide glamour, this outrageous holiday comedy is a glitter bomb of legendary proportions—and the perfect antidote to every earnest Christmas story you've ever seen.

Audition Information:

• Auditions will be held at The Ringwald Theatre on Sunday, August 9th from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
• Actors will pick a time slot.
• The theatre is located inside Affirmations, 290 W. 9 Mile Rd in Ferndale.
• Sides (script and song) will be emailed in advance.
• Actors are asked to bring their best impressions of characters they are auditioning for

Show Information:

• Mamma Dearest! Here We Joan Again will run December 4-21, 2026 at The Ringwald Theatre inside Affirmations in Ferndale, MI.
• Performances will be Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays at 7:00 p.m. Sunday performances will be at 2:00p.m.
• Tech: November 28 & 29, 2026
• Rehearsals will begin in late October 2026.
• All actors will receive a stipend of $500.
• No equity contracts are available.

  One of Joan’s dumb and f*ckable houseboys. “Almost too gay to function,” but hadn’t noticed. Sparks fly with Chiquitita once they realize they’ve been tragically misunderstanding each other—and sexuality—this whole time. Together, they form one whole brain cell and an unstoppable love story.
• EARTHA KITT (Any age, any gender)
  Sultry, slinky, and slightly supernatural. Could kill you with one look...and you’d thank her. She doesn’t walk, she slithers, and every syllable that leaves her lips is dipped in satin, sass, and subtle threat. Equal parts siren, villainess, and jazz cabaret smoke. Has never once experienced self-doubt, a bad angle, or an unflattering spotlight. (See: Jujubee’s Snatch Game portrayal.)
• BETTE DAVIS (Any age, any gender)
  Ageless in a “don’t you DARE ask” sort of way. A hurricane in a housecoat, armed with a martini in one hand and a verbal switchblade in the other. Her eyes have their own gravitational pull, and her voice sounds like a pack of cigarettes lit themselves just to get close to her. Enters every room like she’s crashing her own funeral—dramatic, uninvited, and absolutely the center of attention. Has never whispered and has no intention of starting now.
• LIZA MINNELLI (Any age, any gender)
  Chaos ex machina. Chaos incarnate with a Liza twist—equal parts razzle, dazzle, and “where am I again?” A living sequin with legs that kick higher than her sense of direction. She may not know what room she’s in, what scene this is, or who half the cast are, but she’s thrilled to be here and doing Fosse choreography about it. Infectiously joyful, wildly unpredictable, and somehow always on beat, even when she’s not on script.
